I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
I am very passionate about my chosen career and consider my work with clients a privilege.
I engage with clients in a professional, non-judgmental, genuine, authentic, compassionate, and honest manner.
I work with my clients by building a trusting and confidential therapeutic rapport and work from a client-centered and collaborative approach.
I value going at the client’s pace and have appreciation of the clients lived experience.
I believe that counselling can increase a client’s insight, awareness, acceptance, and hope for a better functioning life.
I have 5 years' experience working with adults, seniors, and groups with a variety of mental health illnesses.
I have special interest and enjoy working with people who have experienced trauma, grief, loss, and self-esteem/self-worth issues. Among those, I work with people who suffer from stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, PTSD, and ADHD.
I am skilled and trained in the delivery of evidence-based therapies:
· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
· Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR),
· Grief Recovery Specialist with the Grief Recovery Institute, and
· Level 1 and 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy
I also use other therapeutic approaches which help to achieve my client’s goals.
I currently do not see anyone under the age of 16 years old.
While loss affects people in different ways, feelings of grief, hurt, pain, and sadness can emerge. Grief is a natural, normal reaction to loss. My guidance will be to ensure that you learn new skills and tools to recover from the conflicting emotions and take the appropriate steps to ‘complete’ the loss.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome your symptoms and guide you through the process of reframing negative self beliefs, learn to feel safe, and gain strength to live a productive life.
Nervousness, worry, fear, hopelessness, guilt, emptiness, and sadness are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that coincide with anxiety and depression. Through treatment, I can offer you hope, a new perspective, regain motivation, and increase joy and pleasure that you may be missing.
When negative evaluations of the self start to overcome the positive, your self-esteem can erode, potentially leaving you to feel defeated and ashamed, make bad choices, and fail to live up to your full potential. I can guide you in rebuilding your confidence, increasing self-acceptance and self-love to live a more successful and accomplished life.
